HelicalGears
Helical gears have several advantages:
- Noise Reduction: The teeth of a helical gear engage in small increments as opposed to the entire face engaging at once. This reduces the noise that is normally caused as gears transfer power.
- Transfer of Power Between Non-Parallel Shafts: Helical gears allow for power to be transferred between non-parallel shafts.
- Strength Output: Helical gears can handle more load than spur gears because the helical gear tooth is diagonally positioned and therefore effectively larger.
- Smooth Operation: Because the teeth engage more gradually, helical gears offer smoother gear operation, reducing shock loads and causing less noise and vibration.
- High Load-Carrying Capacity: Helical gears are preferred for heavy load applications.
- Versatility: Helical gears could be used to transmit the motion and power between two parallel shafts and also between two non-parallel shafts.
- Durability: Helical gears are more durable.
- Efficiency: They are simple in design, efficient in operation, and cost-effective.
